STORIES
“Every artist was first an amateur.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
STORIES.
A person’s story is who they are. It’s why they do what they do, who they love, what they create. It’s them and all the little details that make them tick.
Stories are important because they show you an individual’s perspective. They give you a look into someone else's head. When we interview an artist we don’t want to only hear about their artwork, we want to know what their inspiration come from, where they feel the most creative, how they see their world around them. Their stories are so much more than what they create and how they did it. For us these stories really start with the artists perspective. Being able to hear ones perspective gives you a whole new one when looking at their art.
As you read Art Concept Mag, try to see the artists works from their perspective. Look and look again at the works. You may find something new in it every-time that you wouldn’t have otherwise.
“I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act. It is an act that can be met with hostility, exclusion, and violence. It can also lead to love, understanding, transcendence, and community.”
— Janet Mock, Redefining Realness

MADE FOR ARTISTS. Art Concept Magazine was created solely for artists. We want to create a community that not only creates but also educates. This magazine is for the amateurs AND the experienced.
Art Concept Magazine was founded by Caroline Japal in January of 2017. Caroline wanted a place where artists could share their struggles, express their creative ideas and share them with other creatives. She started ACM in hopes of finding other creatives that are also willing to collaborate and share in the creative process, while learning new skills and techniques. She wants ACM to be a safe space to learn, experiment and collaborate.
ACM is actively showcasing artists through its digital platform to accomplish the goal of engaging with artists to start conversations that lead to the further development of artists.
In this issue of ACM we get to get in the heads of some of the people I’ve gotten the chance to meet during my time at university and in my hometown of Birmingham, but also some that are based elsewhere like Nashville, Los Angeles, New York, and Boston.
